Recognizing and rewarding exceptional academic achievement.
While we celebrate athletic NIL, we must also recognize our academic over-achievers. The Academic NIL Trust provides quarterly awards to students demonstrating exceptional intellectual achievement and academic excellence.
Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals have transformed how we recognize student achievement. Athletic NIL has become mainstream—student-athletes now have opportunities to earn recognition and compensation for their talent and performance on the field or court.
But we've overlooked a critical population: our academic over-achievers. The students spending hours in the library, conducting research, competing in debate and science competitions, maintaining perfect GPAs, and pushing the boundaries of intellectual achievement—these students deserve recognition too.
Athletes are celebrated for their discipline, dedication, and excellence. So should our scholars. The Academic NIL Trust levels the playing field by providing quarterly recognition and awards to students who exemplify academic excellence.
Our academic over-achievers deserve the same recognition, celebration, and support we give to our athletic champions.
10% of My Annual School Board Salary
Dedicated annually to the Academic NIL Trust, recognizing and rewarding our district's most accomplished academic students.
If elected, I will commit 10% of my annual school board salary to this trust. This personal investment demonstrates my commitment to celebrating and supporting our academic over-achievers on the same level we celebrate athletic excellence.
The Academic NIL Trust provides recognition and awards on a quarterly basis throughout the school year. Each quarter, exceptional academic achievers are recognized for their excellence.
Students are recognized across multiple academic categories to celebrate diverse forms of intellectual achievement—from traditional GPA excellence to research, competition success, and special achievement.
Selected students receive both recognition and monetary awards. These awards are their "Academic NIL"—compensation for their intellectual achievement, similar to athletic NIL for student-athletes.
Award winners are publicly recognized in the same way we celebrate athletic achievements. Media announcements, school celebrations, and community recognition elevate academic achievement to the same status as athletic accomplishment.
Recognition for students maintaining exceptional academic performance throughout the quarter.
Recognition for students winning or placing in academic competitions and contests.
Recognition for student research projects, scientific work, and innovative thinking.
Recognition for exceptional achievement in specific academic subjects and disciplines.
Recognition for students showing exceptional academic growth and improvement.
Recognition for students providing academic leadership and mentorship.
Four award cycles per school year—one per quarter—ensure consistent recognition throughout the year.
Q1 Awards (Fall)
Recognition of first semester achievement and early-year excellence
Q2 Awards (Winter)
Mid-year recognition of sustained academic excellence
Q3 Awards (Spring)
Spring semester recognition and breakthrough achievement
Q4 Awards (Summer)
Year-end recognition of cumulative academic achievement
Award amounts are determined by the trust's available funds and distributed equitably among recognized students. Amounts are competitive with athletic NIL compensation to demonstrate that academic achievement receives equal value.
Monetary awards are paired with public recognition to amplify the celebration of academic achievement.
Athletic NIL has become mainstream—that's great! But we've inadvertently created a hierarchy where athletic achievement is celebrated and compensated while academic achievement goes unrecognized. Academic NIL levels that playing field.
We celebrate athleticism, speed, strength, and coordination. We should celebrate intelligence, critical thinking, creativity, and intellectual achievement with equal enthusiasm. Academic NIL sends the message that intellectual excellence is valued and celebrated.
Recognition and compensation motivate excellence. For athletes, NIL provides tangible motivation to perform at the highest level. Academic NIL provides the same motivation for scholars and over-achievers.
Not every student is an athlete, but every student has the potential to excel academically. Academic NIL creates opportunity for recognition and compensation for a much larger population of students.
By dedicating 10% of my school board salary to this trust, I'm making a personal commitment to academic excellence. This demonstrates how seriously I believe in celebrating and supporting our academic over-achievers.
The Academic NIL Trust will be managed with complete transparency and public accountability:
The Academic NIL Trust recognizes that excellence comes in many forms. Our scholars and over-achievers deserve the same recognition, celebration, and support we provide to our athletic champions. Every student who reaches for greatness should be celebrated.
